Description
These wooden ride on toys were created by Playskool in 1965 to help the littlest tikes learn to ride a bike. Named the “Tyke Bike” by Playskool, they have gone through many variations through the years, but this one is the original. Handlebars are chrome with white rubber grips. Center of handlebars, where they attach to the bike, is plastic. Seat is yellow plastic with black spots. The frame is wooden, orginally painted in white but paint and writing has faded. Red wheels have plastic centers with black plastic, white wall tires. Bike measures approx. 18″ long, 14.5″ tall (at the handlebars) and 17″ wide (handlebar width.) Seat height is 7″. Bike is in good vintage condition and sturdy. Paint on wheels and tires show wear and some discolored areas. Playskool logo is still intact on the wooden, center frame piece. Although this item could still be useable as a toy, due to ever changing safety standards, we recommend it be used for display purposed only.
